Introducing for the very first time, Ivy Josephine Young

Ivy Josephine Young was born on a cloudy Santa Barbara day: Sunday, October 5, 2008 at 4:00pm.   She peacefully entered the world and was an immediate hit.  For some reason, Jon and I both thought we were have a boy. So when our doctor asked Jon,  "Dad, come tell us what you have!.." We were both surprised and thrilled to hear him say.. "It's a GIRL!".
We hadn't decided on a name yet, so that was first on our agenda. We had narrowed it down to two girl names and two boy names that we liked, but were certain we would be choosing from our boy options. Not so.  We said our two girl names out loud, trying to get used to the sound they made. Trying to get used to the fact that we had a little person, a daughter, to whom this name was going to be given!
Deep down, we both were in love with the name Ivy, and thought Josephine was equally unique as a middle name. "Oh, is that a family name?", some have since asked.  And our reply is "No, we simply thought it was different. Different, and beautiful."  Just like our Ivy.

Young Family: New and Improved

The first blog I attempted was during our eleven month stay in Ecuador.  I posted seven stories during our entire time. Only seven. They were pretty fun though. Probably one of my favorite stories has to do with a large slug we found in Jon's hair one morning. Seriously gross.  You should read it sometime.
But here we are again, coming at you with a new angle: back in the States, living in Santa Barbara, beginning the next chapter. This is simply the story and adventures of  the Young family, which consists of Jon, Meg, and as of October 5, 2008, Ivy Josephine. She is our daughter. Our first. And she rocks.
